DIY VALENTINE DECORATIONS IDEAS

When should you start decorating for Valentine’s Day?

I always love seeing Valentines Day decorations pop up in mid-January about a month before the holiday, but often people think of it as a February holiday and decorate for it starting in the beginning of February.

If you are throwing a Valentines Day party, setting up the day before can lessen the stress of the day. Alternatively, if you are hosting a child’s Valentines party, have the first craft or two BE the decorations and let the kids decorate the room as the party progresses!

How do you make a Valentine’s Day centerpiece?

The best Valentine’s Day centerpiece ideas for a kids Valentine party usually are less about the romantic love angle of Valentines day and more about the vivid colors and friendship. Here are a few simple ideas to make a quick centerpiece for your Valentines Day celebration:

  • Balloon bouquet of white, pink and red balloons that can be anchored in the middle of the table or added to the back of each child’s chair. I love balloons as decorations because they allow for good eyesight between those sitting at a table, but are bright and festive.
  • Valentines Box “Neighborhood” where each child adds their Valentines box to the middle of the table arranged as they wish. If the kids don’t already have a box for their Valentines, you can have them make them at the party or provide them as both decoration and function!
  • Paper flower bouquets created with pipe cleaner flowers, tissue paper flowers, construction paper flowers, hand print flowers, or paper plate flowers.

21. Valentines Day Party Decorations

23. Valentine’s Day Heart Stones

Painted stones are super popular right now, but most people don’t know what to do with them. You can create a bunch of Valentine’s Day Heart Stones, and place them in a glass bowl for an easy DIY centerpiece. A vase also works or you can hide them around the room!

24. Puzzle Hearts Decoration

30 DIY VALENTINES DAY PARTY DECORATIONS IDEAS & CRAFTS FOR PRESCHOOLERS & KIDS (25)

Use puzzles with missing pieces to make Freshly Found’s puzzle hearts craft for your Valentine’s Day party. It is a great way to recycle these puzzles that kids don’t use anymore, plus they are super cute! Use the colored side, or the backside, or make it your own and paint each piece!

25. DIY Valentine’s Day Banner

VALENTINE’S DAY PARTY IDEAS – CRAFTS FOR PRESCHOOLERS

Most of these ideas can be tailored to work for the littlest of party guests!

Preschoolers love coloring, painting, and cutting with scissors (with supervision).

They also love being helpers! That’s one of the sweetest things about this age, and it ties in perfectly with Valentine’s Day, since the entire holiday is about thinking of others.

Have your preschooler help you decorate and prep for your party. They can help with making valentines for their classmates, and they can also help you whip up some Valentine’s Day treats!

The biggest tip to make a party the best it can be for preschoolers, is to limit the time. Keep it under two hours, and keep their activities short and sweet, in order to keep them interested!

Valentine’s Day is the simplest holiday to celebrate and sending your guests home after a fun and busy time together is the best Valentine of all!
